General

  • What Operating Systems are supported?
    • Secure Copy supports Windows 2000/2003/2008/2008 R2 Server for source and/or destination servers.

  • Does Secure Copy require a software agent?
    • No. Secure Copy does not require an agent and the console can be installed either directly on the source or destination server or a completely separate server. For maximum performance we recommend that Secure Copy is installed on the source or destination server.

  • Secure Copy has "Administrator Override" – What is that?
    • Secure Copy's Administrator Override feature allows Secure Copy to access all files, even those that the Administrator does not have permissions to, ensuring a complete copy of all files selected. Secure Copy does not do anything that the Administrator running Secure Copy does not have permission to do manually. To overcome "Access Denied" errors the Administrator usually has to take ownership on the problem file(s) before copying the file. Secure Copy eliminates this process, removing the need for manual intervention.

  • Besides files and folders, what else does Secure Copy migrate?
    • Secure Copy migrates all related NTFS permissions, Shares and Share permissions, File Attributes, Compression Attributes, as well as Users and Groups local to the source server.

  • How is Secure Copy Licensed?
    • This product is licensed on a "named server" basis. A separate license must be acquired for each server/device, whether it will be a source or destination. Once used in a job the license is locked to the device and may not be moved to another source or destination server/device. For more information on Secure Copy licensing, see the Licensing FAQs page.
