SCRIPTLOGIC'S ANTI-PIRACY INFORMATION

ScriptLogic is committed to educating its licensed customers about compliance, and helping then resolve any compliance issues.

Defined

Question: What is piracy?

Answer: Software piracy is the illegal distribution or reproduction of software. Purchasing a software license means that you acquire a license to use the software and that license describes how you may legally use that software. Any use of the software beyond the scope of the license (i.e. seats, user or other capacity metric), is a violation of the license and potentially federal copyright law.

Types of Piracy
While there are many different types of software piracy, the main ones that we would like to address include:

  • Under reporting by end users – under reporting usage, making additional copies, using software beyond its expiration date.

  • Internet Piracy – key generators, activation keys, serial numbers and other means that allow for the installation or use of the software without authorization of ScriptLogic.

Compliance Program

ScriptLogic has a program in place to get its users into compliance. This program is designed to work cooperatively with the company instead of pursuing legal channels.
